Laverne Spradling Martin, 93, formerly of Greenville, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Arbor Hills Nursing Home in Plano. Mrs. Martin was born on December 26, 1926 in Wolfe City, to John Spradling and Mamie Dugger Spradling. She married Paul Fulks, Jr. and later married Wesley Martin in Greenville. Mrs. Martin was a third grade teacher at Crockett Elementary School in Greenville for many years. She graduated from Wolfe City High School, East Texas State Teachers College with a Bachelor of Science and a Master Degree. Mrs Martin was a member of the Johnson Street Church of Christ in GreenvilIe, Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of Republic of Texas.
She is survived by daughter, Kathy Armstrong of Austin, son, Kent Fulks and wife Vicki of Dallas, grandchildren; Kendra Card and husband Clinton of McKinney, Ashley Fulks of Dallas, Megan Fulks and spouse Neil Wolfe of Dallas, John Armstrong of Austin, and Robert Armstrong and wife Meredith of Austin, great grandchildren; Harrison Card and wife Libby, Emma, Jack and Lilly Card and Elliott Wolfe, and stepdaughter, Sarah Wright. She was preceded in death by her husband Wesley, parents and stepson Buddy Martin.
A private family burial will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City.
I remember her fondly – one of my very favorite teachers. Always kind and patient with her students.
