Billy Joe Byars, age 92, passed away at his home in Wolfe City, Sunday, February 23, 2020 while he was surrounded by his family. He was born to Lonnie and Ollie Hampton Byars August 31, 1927 in Petty, Texas.
Billy graduated from Wolfe City High School, then he earned an accounting degree from Draughon’s worked as an auditor for the Hostess Bakery/Wonder Bread company. He travelled all over helping the individual bakeries keep their books straight. When he was not working, he enjoyed gardening with his daughter and fishing. He married Sue L Taylor, January 12, 1967 in Dallas.
Billy is survived by his daughter, Renee and her husband Greg Staley of Wolfe City, their children Katy and Noah, stepson Jimmy and wife Ruby Seals of Tennessee and their children Joshua, Sutherland, and Juliet Crossley. He is also survived by Danny’s wife Andi Seals and their children Jimmy, Holly Mae and Jesse, special grandchildren: Chelsea, Jared, and Stacy, his cousin Billy Jack Davis of Mineral Wells, numerous nieces, nephews and his 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife, stepson Danny, and a grandson, Jeremy.
Visitation will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery Chapel. The graveside service will follow at 11:30 in the cemetery. It will be conducted by Kenneth Ballard.
The family has requested that donations be made to the Wolfe City Educational Foundation
