Joe Woodruff, age 66, passed away in Commerce, September 29, 2020. He was born as Randy Joe Woodruff, August 3, 1954, to Robert Hugh and Helen “Louise” Paris Woodruff
Joe attended Wolfe City High School, before going to work as a truck driver. He worked for several companies including Carlton Henslee in Wolfe City. Joe drove trucks for other local companies including Williams Farms, Vittetoe Gin and Lankford Farms. He spent many years traveling the highways while he delivered important cargo – whether it was someone’s household possessions when they moved or other valuable cargo. When he was not driving, he lived as a cowboy. He loved raising his horses and mules. He loved his dogs and greatly enjoyed fishing and hunting hogs. He married Barbara Gardner March 14, 1993 in Wolfe City.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Wolfe City, five children: Ty Woodruff of Wolfe City, Melissa Stapleton and husband Carlon of Wolfe City, Brandon Woodruff and wife Jill of Wolfe City, Brian McWhirter and wife Lea of Wolfe City, and Bart Deaton of Commerce. He is also survived by two siblings, Carolyn Williams of Wolfe City and Cathy Painter and husband Pat of Wolfe City, his grandchildren: Copelynn King, Lex Woodruff, Jason Malone, Nick Malone, Lacy Malone, Taylor Woodruff, Kinsly Woodruff, Jayla Mc Whirter, Gage McWhirter, Gentry Deaton, and Rhynn Deaton, and his great-grandchildren: Colter Speights, Kansas Malone and Holden Malone.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M., Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Cross Trails Cowboy Church in Fairlie. The memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. and will be conducted by Michael White of Wolfe City. The following long time friends will be honorary pallbearers: Timmy Davis, Ferrin “Lupe” Long, David Crossland, Gene Kounovsky, Gary Russell, James Busby, Ricky Woodruff, Bobby Tice, Junior Gregg and Steve Robinson.
