Coy Inez Turner was born
May 14, 1912 in Mantakie, Mississippi, the daughter of A.J.
Turner and Nancy Rose Smith Turner. The family moved by train from Mississippi to Wolfe City, Texas when she was 3 years old, where she lived all her life until she moved to Paris, Tx. in 1985. She married Alton B. Hogan on May 14, 1930 in Hugo, Oklahoma. A son, Tommy Jud
Hogan was born on August 8,1933 and drowned on April 10, 1935. She and Mr. Hogan owned and operated Hogan Cleaners from 1935 until 1958. At that time she went to work for the
late Oza Fulks on the Wolfe City
Sun and worked for the paper until she retired. She and Mr. Hogan celebrated their 40th anniversary on May 14 and he passed away on May 24, 1976. On April 3, 1978 she married Dennis Merle Anderson in Hugo, Oklahoma. They lived in Wolfe
City until April 1985 when they
moved to Paris. He passed away
September 21, 1993. She attended Wolfe City Public School where she was active in all school activities. She, along with the late Oza Fulks and a special committee promoted the first Wolfe City public school homecoming. She
worked many hours helping get the Wolfe City hospital. A group of Wolfe City people put on a show each year in Wolfe City and several towns around to raise money to build the new fire station. She was a charter member of the Webb Hill Country Club, a charter member of the Business Women’s Bible Club.
She joined the First Methodist
Church when she was 9 years old. She was active in the Missionary Society and a life time member of the Guild. She kept the kindergarten class for 9 years. She was a life long member of the Methodist choir. In December 1984 she was one of fifteen members who were honored by the pastor for having been a member of the church for over 50 years. In 1985 she
move her membership to The Oak Park Methodist Church in Paris, where she attended until her health failed. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents,
one sister, Vivian Maloney and
one brother Yancy Turner and one son Tommy Jud Hogan. Survivors include 1 niece, Barbara Lucy of Longview, 2 stepchildren, Marlee Johnson and W.E. (Bill) Anderson both of Paris, 4 step great nieces, 3 step great nephews and 4 step great great grandchildren. Funeral services for Ms. Anderson were held Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Owens Funeral Home Chapel. She passed away on Sunday,
April 15, 2012 at the Paris Regional Medical Center in Paris, Texas.
