Donald James McBroom, age 63, passed away September 25, 2018 at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville.  He was born September 28, 1954 to James (Reece) and Minnie West McBroom in Dallas.

Donald worked as a manager at Atwoods Ranch and Home stores in the Northeast Texas area for several years.  He also served as a police officer in Arlington.  There were few things he could not do and he enjoyed helping his friends and family.  He married the love of his life Charlotte Gunn at Ben E. Keith in Commerce.

He is survived by his wife Charly, sons and daughters Brian McBroom of Bedford, Jodie Ledat and husband Sam of Dallas, Sheila Smith and husband Jessy of Cumby, David Self of Campbell, Ginny Mathis and husband David of Sulphur Springs.  He is also survived by his grandchildren: Chrissa, Maeghan, Korrighan, Shyian, Jessy Jr., Bridget, Victoria, Jaylynn, Kaylee, Audrey, Patricia, Ronald, William, Ciara, Sealan and Noah, and one great-granddaughter: Bela.  Other survivors include his sister Terri and husband Jimmy Rios, and their children Steven and Emily, Uncle David McBroom and Uncle Charles West.

The funeral service will be conducted by Brother Jody Vandeaver at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Mt. Carmel Cemetery Chapel in Wolfe City.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 11:00 A.M. at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Korrighan Smith, Jessy Smith, Jim “Bubba” Elder, David Smith, David Elder, and Jeremy.
