July 1, 1931 – October 7, 2015 Donald Ray Nivens, 84, of Commerce, Texas passed away Wednesday, October 7 at his residence. Mr. Nivens was born on July 2, 1931 in Childress, Texas to Fred and Sybil King Nivens. He married Cozette Cain on January 27, 1957 in Childress, Texas. He was a retired bulldozer operator and was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors are his wife of Commerce, 3-daughters; Lessa Cannon, Donna Helton, Lani Miller all of Commerce. 8-Grandchildren; Melissa Millies, Shane Cannon, Carrie Cannon, Crystal Cannon, Brandi Miles, Christopher Miles and girlfriend Leann Totty, Kerry Miller, Jr. and wife Nicole and Brett Miller, 10-Great Grandchildren and a sister, Pat Bell and special friend, Donna Robnett.
Mr. Nivens was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, one son, Lindy Nivens and a grandson, R.J. Cannon.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 9, 2015 from 6 to 8:00 P.M. at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home in Wolfe City, Texas
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 11:00 am in the R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Chapel in Wolfe City. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City with Red Anderson, Jim Tavener, Kendall Totty, Steve Helton, Steve Speight and Charlie Miller serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be provided by the Hunt County Veterans Honor Guard.
