July 22, 1926 –  June 25, 2013 Doris Viola Kounovsky, 86, of Powderly, formerly a longtime resident of Wolfe City, died June 25, 2013 at Paris Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday in R. W. Owens Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Tim Hearn of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, June 27, 2013.
Born July 22, 1926, in Keya Paha County, Nebraska, she was the daughter of Charles A. and Ethel June Eckley Strain. She married Jacob “Joe” J. Kounovsky on February 22, 1944. Mrs. Kounovsky was a caregiver and a member of First Baptist Church in Wolfe City.

Survivors include one son,Gene and wife Stella of Powderley and one sister, Vonna Irene Walls and husband Lee of Abilene.

Her husband, parents, two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Miecke, Frank Giles, Caleb Ingram, Cord Ingram, Rio Ingram and Joe Woodruff.
