E. June Nichols passed away at her home, in Commerce, Texas on January 7, 2015. She was born on September 21, 1925 in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of Kenneth Samuel and Lilly Irene (Myers) Foreman. She married Maurice M. Nichols on January 8, 1945 in Corpus Christie, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1997.
June attended Shurtleff College, in Alton, Illinois and graduated from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois. She also attended Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She taught first grade for 30 years, starting with Humboldt School in Alton, Illinois. She taught in Cleveland, Ohio after the family was transferred there and after another transfer to Fairfax, Virginia she taught until she and Nick retired to Texas.
She is survived by two sons Steven Nichols and wife Kay of Commerce, Texas, and Joseph of Dallas, Texas, granddaughters Mary Elizabeth Bumpas and husband Ryan of Vista, California and Lindsay Caroline Baum and husband Michael of Dallas, Texas, and great-grandson Preston Baum, sisters Sally Bruckert and husband Glenn, and Martha Lane both of Bunker Hill, Illinois and Janet Meininger and husband Steve of Plainview, Illinois, and many nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by a son that died at birth, and daughter-in-law Josephine Nichols, her parents and brother Jimmy Foreman.
A memorial luncheon will be held at noon Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Fairlie Community Center.
