Elton Joe Grimes, 73, of Wolfe City, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2022, at his home in Wolfe City.
Mr. Grimes was born February 12, 1949, in Fort Worth to William Lee and Mattie Evelyn Williams Grimes. He married Barbara Cunningham on November 12, 2011, in Pecan Gap. He was a member of the Bailey Baptist Church.
Elton attended the Kennedale High School. He learned how to be a mechanic by disassembling cars so he could put them back together. He belonged to the Eastern Star and was a Mason. He was past Master of Ashley Lodge in Bailey and past member of Excelsior Lodge. He enjoyed playing golf, cards and dominoes.
Elton is survived by his Wife, Barbara Grimes of Wolfe City; Daughter, Candy and Gordon Jones of Aledo; Son, Elton Jr. and Kris Grimes of New Market, Al.; Son, Dusty Ford of Godley; Son, Sonny Cunningham of Greenville; Son, Scott Cunningham of San Antonio. Grandchildren, Emily, Kendra, Shelby, Ryan, Tyler, Brandon, Joseph, Chelsea, Carrie, Cody and Andrew. Great-Grandchild, Collin. Siblings, John and Jana Grimes of Dripping Springs; Travis and Carol Grimes of Odessa and Joyce Martin of Grand Prairie.
Preceded in death by his parents, one sister, June and one brother, Troy.
The funeral service will be held at 2:30 P. M. Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at the Bailey Baptist Church with Bro. Glynn Tyson officiating. Burial will follow at the Long Cemetery in Powderly. Visitation will be at 1:30 P. M. before the service.
