April 23, 1918 – January 26, 2011 Brent,
Gene “Lefty” Brent, age 92, of Gober, Texas, died on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, at Seven Oaks Nursing Home in Bonham. He was born in Dodd City, Texas, on April 23, 1918, to Henry D. Brent and Ola Hawkins Brent. He married Alene Smith on December 25, 1937, in Bonham Texas and she survives. Lefty, as he was best known by his family and friends, retired from Henington Industries in Wolfe City after 30 years of service. He was also a farmer and rancher in the Gober Community for more than 70 years. Lefty was a member of the First Christian Church in Gober and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors are his wife of 73 years, Alene Brent of Gober, daughter Joetta Wallace and husband Happy of Gober, son Terry D. Brent and Janice McMillen of Gober, four grandchildren Jeff Wallace and wife Regina, Shane Wallace and wife Shawna, Jonna Spiller and husband Jeff, and Julie Rose and husband “Hobo”, six great-grandchildren Emily Wallace, Blaze Blain, Monte Wallace, Jaylen Wallace, Jenna Wallace, Nik Spiller, Jake Spiller, Luke Spiller, and many nieces,nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home in Wolfe City, Texas, on Saturday, January 29, 2011, from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Burial will follow at the Gober Cemetery with Brother Johnny Glover officiating and Jeff Wallace, Shane Wallace, Jeff Spiller, Hobo Rose, Jaylen Wallace, and Blaze Blain serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dava Brent, Pat Brent, Mike Brent, James Sherer, Dennis Brent, and Jackie Brent.
