Helen Mae Morelock passed away peacefully at her residence on October 9, 2023 at the age of 99.
Helen was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma in the Township of Servers on May 20, 1924. She was the youngest of three daughters born to Grady Winfield Harris and Ina Saville Harris. When she was a young girl, the family moved to the Dallas area where she spent her early years growing up and working in the downtown area. She loved to talk about her adventures working with and meeting people along Elm Street. That is where she met her first husband, Bill Davis, and after marrying, they moved to Irving where he set up his business and she helped with the bookkeeping. They remained married until his death in 1965.
In 1975, Helen remarried Thomas Morelock, Jr. Together, they enjoyed playing cards with friends and family; and traveling and spending time in exciting cities like Las Vegas where she spent hours playing her favorite Nickle-machines on the strip. Never losing her desire to “play”, even at 99 years of age, Helen could be found playing BINGO and other games at the local VFW, pretending she was playing Nickle-slots on her Kindle, or just getting back to the basics with a good game of Mexican Train dominoes.
The funeral service will be conducted by Bro. David London at 1:00 P.M. Monday, October 16, 2023 at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Chapel in Wolfe City. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the same location. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Most recently a resident of Granbury, Texas, Helen maintained long-term friendships that spanned decades and built new friendships along the way. She found her joy in caring for others; and in turn, so many cared for her. What a beautiful life she lived.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Grady Winfield Harris and Ina Saville Harris, her sisters, Aline Walters and Louise Taylor, and her son, Kim Bradford Davis. She is survived by step-son, Ronald (Terri) Morelock of Waco, TX, step-daughter, Gini (Frank) of Granbury TX, step-son, David Morelock of Las Vegas, NV , Granddaughter, Kelly (Craig) Johnson of Dallas, TX, Granddaughter, Diana (Robert) Humphrey of Irving, TX, Granddaughter, Stefani Morelock of Midlothian, TX, Grandson, Philip (Amy) Bosco of Mansfield, TX, Grandson, Christopher (Carrie) Bosco of Weatherford, TX, Grandson, Justin (Sadie) Marshall of Lufkin, TX, Grandson, Michael (Amber) Morelock of Manor, TX and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was a beloved Aunt. May happy memories as I was growing and her easy laughter. Her long time friendship with Wanda. With my first wedding she offered.is her new convertible for our honeymoon and she meant it. Always so kind to me. Love you Aunt Helen
Helen, I knew you longer than I knew my mother. We didn’t get close until mom got dementia and although I always loved you, you didn’t know me. We discussed and discovered many shared things and we shared many laughs. We developed a real relationship and I miss you. I love you and will miss you
We loved her so❤️
