Margaret (Margie) Lanelle Stanford Hamlin, 88, passed away on March 24, 2022 in Greenville, Texas.

Margie was born February 7, 1934 to Wade R. and Myrtle (Smith) Stanford, in Wolfe City, Texas.  She was one of 12 children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, Joe Payne, Fred Cabaniss, and sons, Rickie Payne and Roy Cabaniss.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Hamlin; daughter, Linda (Payne) King and husband, Dick; daughter-in-law, Shirley “Lou” (Sallee) Payne; son-in-law, Kevin Hamlin and Lyndsey; grandson, Billie Payne; granddaughter, Jessica and husband, Tavis McDaniel; granddaughter, Cari Beth Cabaniss Eggert and husband, Mikel; granddaughter Landry Hamlin; great-grandchildren, Brendyn and Bryce Payne, Waylon McDaniel, Jackson and Annalisa Eggert, and several nieces and nephews.

After working several years in office management, Margie finished her career at Texas A&M University-Commerce working for the Dean of the College of Education, and retired in 2002.  She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Greenville, Texas.

Margie loved to cook and had a generous and loving heart.  She graciously opened her home to those who needed a helping hand.  Many a family meal included a student who was far away from family, or a friend or acquaintance who had limited options otherwise.

Margie’s family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff of Briarcliff Health Center and Kindred Hospice for their tender and loving care for her.

A private graveside service will be held by the family.
