December 24, 1926 –  January 24, 2012 Ruth Swinson age 85 of Fairlie, Texas died on January 24, 2012 at her home following a lenthy illness. She was born on December 24, 1926 in Fairlie, she was the daughter of Vina Sue Fulfer Speight and Fairl Speight. She married Louis Iven Swinson on January 2, 1945, in Commerce, Texas. Mrs. Swinson was a homemaker and was a member of the Church of Christ in Commerce. Survivors include her husband Louis Iven Swinson, eight children and spouses, Larry and Kathy Swinson of Pearland, James and Sharron Swinson of Fairfield, Ronnie and Sandra Swinson of Fairlie, Lanny and Darlene Swinson, of Wolfe City, Linda and Buzz Malone of Wolfe City, JOe and Judy Swinson of Fairlie, Roger and Dorothy Swinson of Palestine and Theresa and Bill Shamberger of Fairfield; 19 grandchildren, and 38 great-grandchildren. She is preceded by her parents; stepmother Virgie “Granny” Speight; a brother and wife Raymond and Jo Speight; an infant grandson, James Ray Swinson and infant great-grandson Lucas Wade Swinson.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Cross Trails Cowboy Church in Fairlie with David Gibson officiating. Burial will be at Sonora Cemetery with Mrs. Swinsons grandsons serving as Pallbearers and her great-grandsons serving as Honorary Pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M.
