She graduated from Trenton High School in 1946 in Trenton, Texas and moved to Dallas, Texas to start her work career.  In Dallas, she met the love of her life, Lealand Estell Everett.  They were married on August 14, 1946, at Oak Lawn Baptist Church in Dallas.  They raised four children, two sons and two daughters.  In her early years of being a wife and mother, she worked at Sears, Roebuck and Company, Texas Instruments, Everett Air Conditioning and Redi Lights, and Rochester Gauges Inc..  She enjoyed music and dancing, gifting her talent of cooking and sewing to others and gardening in her flower beds and vegetable gardens. She also liked roses and watching the butterflies, cardinals, and hummingbirds. But her biggest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
