Billy Jack Fedrick, 75, passed away April 19, 2014, at his home in Wolfe City with his family at his side. He was born October 19, 1938, to Joe Elmer and Jewell Hooten Fedrick in Sulphur Springs. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Sulphur Springs. He married LaVerne Williams Avants on December 29, 1982.

 

B. J. attended North Hopkins schools and graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1956. He was a member of the National Guard and attended East Texas State University. He retired from Raytheon after 43 years of dedicated service and also a long time member of UAW 967. B. J. never met a stranger, and he thoroughly enjoyed visiting with his Sunshine Coffee Club friends in Wolfe City.

 

B. J. was preceded in death by his parents; grandson and namesake, Billy Dale Keels; daughter Rhonda Avants; brother David Head and brother-in-law Dave Boston.

 

Survivors include his wife of 31 years LaVerne Fedrick; daughters Teresa Fedrick Petty and husband James, Karen Fedrick Milton, Gail Fedrick Swyers, Angela Fedrick Vaughan and husband Chris, and Wanda Avants Murray; great-grandson Kristopher Poe; sister Myrtle Jo Boston of Virginia; brothers Tom “Jack” Head, Ronnie Head, and Buddy Head; grandchildren Ricky Belcher, Tiffany Keels, Lisa Burgess, Michelle Barnhardt, Carrie Petty, John Michael Milton, Justin Milton, Malia Milton Bakkum, Kara Milton, Stacy Sanchez, Stephanie Tant, Caleb Vaughan, Ethan Vaughan, Tarna Wright, and Eric Poe; eighteen great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

         

 

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 P. M. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Owens Funeral Chapel in Wolfe City.

 

A funeral services will be held at West Main Church of Christ in Wolfe City on Thursday April 24, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. with A.C. Quinn and grandson Justin Milton officiating.

 

Interment will follow at 3:30 P.M. at Old Tarrant Cemetery in Hopkins County with Ricky Belcher, John Michael Milton, Justin Milton, Caleb Vaughan, Ethan Vaughan, Brian Bakkum, Luis Sanchez serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Butch Samples, Lyndel Butler, Charlie Moore, Ronnie Childress and Sunshine Coffee Club friends.
