Charles Kenneth Jones passed away October 22, 2019 at Cheyenne Medical Lodge. He was born in Greenville, Texas to Charles Roy and Mittie Jones on July 1, 1937.
As a young man, Charles was a Texas Golden Gloves boxing champion of his weight division for The state division from 1955-1960.
A wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, he was also an entrepreneur who opened his first business, a hair salon, with his wife, Cossetta in Greenville in 1960. They eventually moved their salons to Conroe and in 1988 opened the first Jones Cosmetology Schools in Dallas. Eventually owning a chain of several schools for thirty years, he made an impact on thousands of students across the metroplex by offering them an affordable education. He was known to give personal loans to several graduates to help them start their own salons. He wanted to help everybody.
Through the years, he opened salons and sold them to the stylists he hired, for very little money. He’s saw this as his way of giving back, the the way others had helped him when he first started in business.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Fred Jones, Marlin Jones, and Arvin Wayne Jones.
He is survived by his sisters Barbara Pruitt, Florine Wright, and Linda Cunningham and wife Vivian Cossetta Jones, his three children: Terry Jones and wife Cindy Jones, Mark Jones, and Jennifer Jones, as well as his grandchildren; Sarah Kidd, Zachary Jones, Marsden King, Tristan King, and Claire Jones, Alicia and husband Jeff Raymond. and five great-grandchildren; Maxwell, Hudson, and Luna, Christoper, Jeffrey.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM Friday, October 25, 2019 at Lake Point Church 701 E Interstate 30, Rockwall, TX 75087. The graveside service will be at 3:00 PM at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City, Texas. The Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 AM with a reception following.
