Christina Grivas Velis, age 78 of Royse City, formerly of Windom and Dallas Texas passed away on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 in Greenville at Briarcliff Nursing Home. She was born February 7, 1937 in Kollinios Greece to Nikolas and Aglaia Kene Grivas. Christina married Sotirios D. “Sam” Velis on October 30, 1955 in Little Rock, Arkansas, and he survives.

Christina was of the Greek Orthodox Faith and a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Dallas.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years Sortirios D. “Sam” Velis, daughters Mary S. Villanueva and husband Steve, and Nicki V. Young and husband Barry, sons; Thomas S. Velis and wife Tina, and John N, Velis, 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters Georgia Hronas and Fotini Liakopoulos, and 2 brothers John Grivas and George Grivas.

Mrs. Velis is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Anteopy S. Nikolopoulos and her husband Pete D. Nikolopoulos, and nephew Nicholos Grivas.

Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Dallas at 13555 Hillcrest, Dallas, Texas 75240 at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, February 14, 2015 with Father Chris Constantinides officiating. Interment will follow at the Bartley Woods Cemetery in Fannin County with Sam Velis, John Velis, Alex Villanuera, Sam Nikolopoulos, Jimmy Nikolopoulos, and Christos Velis serving as pallbearers.
