September 6, 1948 –  October 23, 2016 Brummett,
Clyde Standley Brummett peacefully went Home to be with Jesus, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, October 23, 2016 in Wolfe City, Texas. He was under the care of Kindred Hospice for his second bout of renal cancer.

Clyde Standley was born in Forney, Texas on September 6, 1948 to Clyde Aubrey and Ruth Marie Thompson Brummett. He graduated from Van High School in 1969. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard from 1970-1976. Clyde graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Auto Body and Paint from Eastfield College in 1980. He worked for several years as a foreign car mechanic and then retired as a metal press operator from Ennis Tag and Label in Wolfe City.

Clyde had a very big heart and he was known for doing things for friends and family. He was a gifted artist in painting and drawing, as well as being talented in carpentry. He loved classic cars and was able to begin restoring a 1981 GMC pickup truck and 1970 Barracuda before he passed. His other loves were drag racing, fishing, hunting, cooking pies and other wonderful foods, and Harley Davidson motorcycles—especially riding his own.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved sister Glenda Riedner, his second wife Marilyn Brummett, and his unborn granddaughter Ruby Thacker.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Heath Thacker, his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Whitney Brummett, his sister and brother-in-law Beverly and Roger Spicer, and his brother and sister-in-law Clarence and Linda Brummett. He was “Pop” to his grandchildren, Tanner, Jaren, Carter and Addie (“Pop’s Little Junebug”) Brummett. He is also survived by his first wife and mother of his children, Karen Ayers, his very close cousin and wife Robbie and Brenda Thompson, a host of nieces and nephews, and friend Leah Cathy Miller.

Pallbearers will be Tanner Brummett, Aubrey Hay, Shannon Duckworth, Hank Pickering, Matt Priest, and Danny Pate. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Caldwell, Horace Oliver, and Jerome Tucker.

Visitation will be at Owens Funeral Home in Wolfe City on Tuesday, October 25th from 6 to 8 p.m. Clyde’s service, to be conducted by Brother Larry Morris, will be on Wednesday, October 26th at 2 p.m. at his church, Calvary Baptist Church in Wolfe City.
