John Douglas “Doug” Thomas passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018 in Baylor University Hospital of Dallas.  Mr. Thomas was born on Sept. 19, 1956 to Emmett Edwin “Bill” Thomas and Gwendolyn Louise Combs Thomas in Pecan Gap, Texas.  He married Jamie Nelson on July 22, 2006 in Wolfe City, Texas.  Mr. Thomas taught in the Wolfe City Ind. School District for 35 years, he coached softball, developed the WCISD robotics team, taught driver’s education and taught science classes.  He loved to work in his yard and playing with his grandbabies.

Survivors are his wife of Wolfe City, daughter; Courtney Trunks and husband Chris of Allen, Tx., Son; Drew Thomas and wife Ravish of Cooper, daughter; Emily Wood of Wolfe City and Amie Self and husband Mitch of Wolfe City, six grandchildren; Jadyn & Carder Lewis; Sydney & Hayley Trunks; Macie &  Andie Self, sister Sharon Sandlin & husband Ronnie of Longview, Tx. A Brother, Dennis Thomas & wife Judy of Dallas, along with several nieces, nephews and his extended family of the Wolfe City Independent School District.  Doug was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Sylvia Thomas and a niece Julie Thomas.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 27, 2018 in the gymnasium of the Wolfe City High School at 2:00 P.M. conducted by Bro. Tim Hearn and assisted by Chris Sheets, burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City.  Visitation will be held at the R. W. Owens & Son Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.

Pallbearers will be Buddy Burden, Justin Cunningham, Johnny Daniels, Jere Singleton, Cody Dawson and Trey Bailey.  Honorary Pallbearers are Brad Burden and Robert Wayne Milton.
