Douglas P. Williams, 69, of Caddo Mills, Tx. Passed away Thursday, April 19th at his residence. Mr. Williams was born on May 25, 1947 to Bill and Christine Smith Williams in Greenville, Tx. He married Laura M. Lair on July 27th, 2006 in Greenville, Tx. Mr. Williams was a graduate of Wolfe City High School, East Texas State University with a BS degree in Biology. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1972-1979 and attained the rank of Captain, serving in the Strategic Air Command, 8th Air Force, 2nd Bomb Wing 62nd Bomb Squadron he was assigned to Barksdale as part of the U.S. Nuclear Triad from the end of the Vietnam War into the cold war with Russia. After leaving the Air Force he began a 30-year airline career flying for Royal Airlines, Muse Air, Transtar, Southwest, United and retiring with Continental Airlines.Survivors are his wife of Caddo Mills, Tx.. Two Brothers; David Williams and wife Doris of Greenville, Tx. And Donald Williams and Wife Chelia of Saginaw, Tx. A Daughter; Sonya Short; 2 Grand-daughters; Serenity and April Jones, a great grandson Noah Benefield. 3-nephews; Cody and Garrett Williams and Michael Williams along with a niece Jennifer Pittsinger. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be on Monday, April 24th at 10:30 A.M. in the R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home in Wolfe City, Tx. Conducted by Pastor Mike Langdon and Rev. Bill Shaddox. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City, Military Honors will be presented by the Hunt County Honor Guard.
Pallbearers are Michael Williams, Jimmy Kilgore, Mark Chamberlain, Jeff Brown, Tim Pittsinger, Garrett Williams. Honorary Pallbearers are Bob Tompkins, Cody Williams.
