Emma Louise Hays, 88, of Tyler died Sept. 4, 2010, at her home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Lou Thomas officiating. Burial is in Mount Carmel Cemetery.

Mrs. Hays was born Aug. 23, 1922, to Vaden and Flora Harwell Turner in the Mount Carmel community in Hunt County. She was married to Kenneth L. Hays on May 4, 1946, in Arlington. He preceded her in death in 1988.

Mrs. Hays was a homemaker and a member of the Lanes Chapel Methodist Church in Tyler.

She is survived by daughter, LaJenia Watson Ruyle and husband Melvin of Tyler; grandchildren, Ronny Ruyle, Serita Tarver, Cindy Ruyle and Jason Wellington; great-grandchildren, Brittany Bane, Brandon Williams, Brant Bane, Jared Ruyle and Janson Ruyle; brother, V.H. Turner of Rockwall; and two nephews, Pat Turner and Mike Turner.

Pallbearers are Ronny Ruyle, Jared Ruyle, Janson Ruyle, Jack Corley, Mike Turner and Pat Turner.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
