Emma Margaret McDowell age 86 of Grand Prairie, Texas passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. She was born on May 8, 1930 in Pacio Community in rural Delta County, Texas to James Coleman Hervey and Bonnie Faye Welch Hervey. She married Harrison Norman McDowell on December 17, 1949 in Dallas, Texas.

Mrs. McDowell was a member of Eastridge Baptist Church in Red Oak. She retired after 33 years as a school secretary.

She was the heart of the family and her physical presence will be greatly missed. Margaret was strong in her faith and her family bond grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest achievements.

She is survived by two sons Gary McDowell and wife Nola of Commerce, and Greg McDowell of Grand Prairie, seven grandchildren; Bonnie, Rich, Damon, Meghan, Patricia, Cathleen, and Kaylin, ten great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Norman McDowell, both parents, and sister Billie Elizabeth Crowder.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016 at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home in Wolfe City, Texas from 6:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Laurel Land Cemetery in Dallas at 10:00 A.M. with Bro. Jack Ables officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Rich McDowell, Damon McDowell, Jeff Pierce, and John Wright, honorary pallbearers will be Preston McDowell, Isaac Quade, Rhett McDowell, and Michael Kopecky.
