Granville Dawson age 80 of Wolfe City, Texas passed away on Friday, May 29, 2015 at his home. He was born in Wolfe City on May 24, 1935 to George Samuel and Maggie Leona Gowin Dawson. He married Nancy Jo Moon in 1955 and later in life Rosie Marie Davis on December 17, 1990 in Durant, Oklahoma and she survives.

Mr. Dawson was of the Baptist Faith and served in the National Guard. He retired after working 23 in law enforcement in Wolfe City, Bonham and Farmersville. Granville was also a member of the Wolfe City Fire Department from 1965 thru 1975.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years Rosie Dawson of Wolfe City, sons; James Dawson and wife Debra, David Dawson and wife Wanda, Gene Dawson and wife Darlene, daughters; Cynthia Lowrey, Reba Dawson, and Loretta Myers and husband Ronnie. Extended family; Brinda Holt, Sherry Carver, Terry Bradt, Shirley Huth, Betty Little, Dennis Brierton, Billy Brierton, Kathy Brierton, 51 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and most beloved Furry Baby Jake, special friends Nancy and Jim Bunch, Barbara and Bob McCoy.

Mr. Dawson is preceded in death by his parents, three siblings Kenneth, Reba, David, three children Vickie Townsend, Rachel Giles, and Pam Ferguson, two grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, and the mother of his children Nancy Jo Moon Apple.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 31, 2015 at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home in Wolfe City, Texas with Bro. Chuck Justis, and Michael White officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the start of the service. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
