Howard Dewey Davis, 92, was born on May 3, 1925, to Ed and Dollie Stephens Davis in Wolfe City, Texas. He attended China Grove Elementary and graduated from Wolfe City High School. After graduating, he served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. Howard married Frances Marie Ricketts on December 21, 1947, and was the loving father of three boys: Timothy Bryan, Dwight Stephen, and Michael Lee. He was a life-long farmer and rancher. In addition to being a loyal employee of the U.S. Postal Service, he also served on the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Board for more than 60 years, the Wolfe City School Board, the Wolfe City Riding Club, and the Hickory Creek Water Board. Howard accepted Christ as a young boy at Spring Creek Church and later became a member of First Baptist Church of Wolfe City.
He is survived by wife Frances; Sons: Timmy Davis and wife Molly, and Dwight Stephen Davis and wife Beckie. Grandchildren: Jennifer Reed, Jill Woodruff, Jake Davis, Heath Davis, Diana Hester, Jamie Humbarger, Jackie Lankford, Boly Mooney, John Mooney, Craig Davis, Morgan Shephard and Nichole Mitchell Great-grandchildren: Chase, Abby, Taylor, Kinsly, Blayke, Kassi, Braylon, Gage, Kate, Henleigh, HD, Cade, Cullen, Logan, Cash, Gabe, Truitt, Jude, Tony, Austin, Colton, Triston, Weston, Bailey, Morgan, Lane, Payton and Brenton.

He was preceded in death by son, Michael Lee Davis; parents; sisters, Mary Lillard Howard and Winnie Davis; and great-granddaughter, Leddy Dell Davis.

The funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church in Wolfe City at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, with Bro. Tim Hearn conducting the service. Visitation will be at 10:00 at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City.
