January 8, 1937 –  April 4, 2013 Jackie Tanner
Jack Clark Tanner, 76, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013 at his home in Wolfe City, surrounded by his family. He was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in January 2013. Jackie was born on January 8, 1937 to George (Ted) Clark and Myrtle Irene Tettleton Tanner in rural Wolfe City. He was an only child. He attended Wolfe City Schools and was a lifelong resident of Wolfe City.

Jackie was a man with many interests. He loved his many motorcycles, refurbishing old broncos and being a silversmith and a lapidary. Jackie retired from Ennis Texas Tag and Label where he ran a printing press for over 40 years. He was a 45 year member of Excelsior Lodge 505 in Wolfe City.

Jackie had a passion for hunting arrowheads and Indian artifacts. He inspired many of his friends to take up the hobby and join in the fun. He also loved hunting artifacts with his son Phil. For years Jackie enjoyed CB radios. With his special CB equipment he talked with people in many places including overseas.

Of all Jackie’s great loves, he loved his grandchildren most of all. He was so very proud of his granddaughters, Brooke and Ali and all they have accomplished and become. He was very happy when his grandson Bowie came along to carry on the Tanner name. Jackie loved his friends and family. If you were Jackie’s friend you knew it.

Jackie is survived by his wife of 30 years, Carole Saye Tanner, son Phil and wife Chanda of Wolfe City, grandchildren, Brooke Deann of Dallas, Ali Denise of Norman, Oklahoma and Bowie Erickson of Wolfe City. Step children, Ronda Dickeson, Lori Kinnaird and husband Cary and Steven Lyday and wife Christie. Seven step grandchildren and five step great grandchildren.
