Jack W. McCaslin was born Oct. 9, 1939 in Wolfe City to Raymond and Ima Fae McCaslin. He was raised there in a farming family and attended Wolfe City High School, where he was the valedictorian and a state champion runner. His academic and running skills attracted the attention of Southern Methodist University, and he received a track scholarship to attend school there. In 1960, while at SMU, he married Trevalyn June Mashburn, also of Wolfe City. Upon graduation from SMU with a Bachelor of Business in accounting, Jack served honorably as an officer in the United States Marine Corps. After three years in the Marines, he joined the Dallas branch of the international accounting firm of Haskins and Sells (now Deloitte and Touche).
In 1968 Jack moved to Fort Worth, where he became a partner in the firm and opened their tax office. Jack later established his own accounting firm in Fort Worth, McCaslin & Company, PC., and at the time of his death was a Principal with Whitley Penn, LLP, an accounting and professional consulting firm.
In 1971 Jack and his family moved to Alvarado. There he was active in the local community as a member of the Alvarado ISD school board, First Baptist Church and was later President of the Board of Directors of United Cooperative Services and served on the board of Southwest Bank.
In the midst of all his professional accomplishment, Jack was most proud of his family and being a devoted father to his daughters Jackie and Whitney and granddaughter Meredith. He was also deeply committed to the farming community in Wolfe City, and to the athletics program at SMU.
