James Edward Gentry, 79, of Crandall, Tx, passed away Sunday, July 2 at his residence. Mr. Gentry was born in Wolfe City to Daniel Wesley Gentry and Willie Mae McCree Gentry. He married Katherine E. Kennedy in 2005 in Las Vegas, NV. Mr. Gentry was a United States Army Veteran and served in the honor guard for President John F. Kennedy and his family.
Survivors are his wife, Katherine, of Crandall, Tx; 2-daughters, Tyra Hackworth and husband Brian of Sherman, Tx. and Kim Hendricks and husband Roger of Sunnyvale, Tx.; 1-Sister, Joan Fugate and husband Tom of Helotes, Tx.; a sister-in-law, Liz Gentry of Athens, Tx.; 2-Stepsons, Sean Sutton of Converse, Tx. and Clint Wood; a step daughter, Jill White and husband Matt of Rowlette, Tx.; and 13 Grandchildren. Mr. Gentry was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Wesley Gentry.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, 10:30 A.M., July 6, 2017 in Owens Funeral Chapel in Wolfe City, Tx., conducted by Bro. Larry Morris of Calvary Baptist Church in Wolfe City. Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow with full military honors conducted by the Hunt County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Brian Hackworth, Roger Hendricks, Sean Sutton, Nathan Hackworth, Nick Hackworth and Ricky Halverson.
