John W. Hewitt, age 90, of Wolfe City, Texas died on August 13, 2010 at the Hunt Regional Community Hospital in Commerce, Texas Mr. Hewitt was born in Gober, Texas on October 15, 1919 to R.R. and Sally Pearl Montgomery Hewitt. He married Hazel Catherine Owens on June 16, 1938 at the First Baptist Church in Wolfe City, Texas. Mr. Hewitt was a retired store manager for Southern Ice Company.

Survivors are his wife of 72 years Hazel Catherine Hewitt of Wolfe City,daughter Barbara Sullivan of Irving, Texas, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a sister Betty Jean Harris of Whittier, California, a brother Billy Hewitt of Dallas. He was preceded in death by a son Jackie Glenn Hewitt, and his parents.

Visation will be Sunday, August 15, 2010 from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home in Wolfe City, Texas. A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 16, 2010 at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas at 11:00 A.M. Pallbearers will be grandsons; James R. Sullivan II, Glenn Monroe, Dain Hewitt Sullivan, and Dru Hewitt Sullivan, along with nephew James R. Hewitt, and Audie Apple, Mike Owens, and Ronnie R. Hewitt.
