Kayla Elise Sanders, age 27, passed away at the North Texas Veterans Affairs hospital in Dallas on January 1, 2019. She was born to Roy Kelly and Veronica Banks Sanders in Bethesda, Maryland on January 11, 1991.
Kayla was a 2009 graduate of Norview High School, in Norfolk, VA. Kayla was an avid cross country runner and won numerous track meets while in high school. After high school, she served her country in the Army National Guard, and after her medical discharge, she worked for the VA Dallas as a supply supervisor.
Kayla is survived by her father: Roy Kelly Sanders of Wolfe City, mother: Veronica Welch of Wilmington, North Carolina, brother: Carlos Sanders and wife Nicole of Paris, grandmother: Lena Sanders of Wolfe City, maternal grandparents Margaret and Daniel Banks, nieces Kaitlyn and Kelli Sanders of Grapevine, uncle Stevie Sanders and wife Tina of Wolfe City, Aunt: Phyliss Banks of Virginia Beach, Virginia, uncle: Daniel Banks II, and aunt: Theresa S Ostarava. She is also survived by her cousins: Trina Sanders Coldiron and Marty Sanders both of Wolfe City and Kyla Sanders of Cooper. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather Billy K. Sanders.
A memorial service will be held at Mt. Carmel Cemetery Chapel at 2:00 P.M., . The service will be conducted by Kayla’s great-uncle Michael White of Wolfe City.
