June 23, 1931 –  June 19, 2012 Laura Malone Mendoza passed away June 19, 2012, at the home of her son following a short illness. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at the First Baptist Church in Wolfe City.
Laura was born June 24, 1931, in Bailey to Ferrell Giddiens and Jewell Woodruff. She married Ray Malone on Aug. 9, 1948. They had two children, Brenda Swinson of Bonham and Buzz Malone of Wolfe City.

Laura later married Milton Mendoza on Oct. 3, 1985. She was retired from 40 years of working in the insurance industry. She was an active member of Southside Baptist Church in Grand Prairie.

Laura’s greatest joys were her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was known as Grandmother to her “dirty dozen” grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband of Grand Prairie; daughter Brenda Swinson of Bonham; son Buzz Malone and wife Linda of Wolfe City; grandchildren Melanie Green (Michael), Cody Malone (Kristi) of Wolfe City, Shane Swinson (Amanda) of Navasota and Shelby Lowrey (Wade) of Bonham; great-grandchildren Lance Phillips, Logan Green, Hunter Green, Ty Malone, Tori Malone, Tessa Malone, Taylor Swinson, Tanner Swinson, Wyatt Swinson, Allee Swinson, Haydon Lowrey, and Parker Lowrey; a brother, C.D. Giddiens of Grapevine; and a sister, Joyce Grubbs (Sam) of Wolfe City.

Her parents; one sister, Lorene Hathcock; and one brother, Joe Cruse, preceded her in death.
