Leona Giles George, age 90, passed away at her home, July 9, 2019. She was born to Oscar Paul and Eugenia Lou Yancey Barker September 22, 1928 in Winnsboro.
Leona raised 12 children, and she enjoyed spending time with her family, attending church and was a member of Cross Trails Cowboy Church, cooking, gardening, fishing, and working puzzles. She is survived by her children: Vanetta Arriaga of Wolfe City, Frank Giles and wife Jay of Celeste, Gene Giles of Bogata, Elmer Giles of Sulphur Springs, Dale Giles and wife Eddie of Wolfe City, Jamy Giles and wife Gina of Commerce, Gary Giles and wife Vicki of Wolfe City, Tim Giles and wife Jen of Wolfe City and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Verin Elmer Giles, her second husband Henry George, her third husband John George, her parents and four of her children: daughter Vera Eutricia Williams, sons W.S. Giles, Royce Giles, Tammy Giles, and seven siblings.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Owens Funeral Chapel from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. The funeral service will be Friday, July 12, 2019 at Cross Trails Cowboy Church in Fairlie, at 10.00 A.M. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Stephen Williams, Bryan Williams, Benjamin Arriaga, Dustin Giles, Jason Giles, Ryan Giles, Brian Giles, Cody D. Giles, Justin Singleton, and Shane Giles. Honorary pallbearers will be Dillon Giles, Rustin Giles, and Aiden Giles.
“Momma” will be truly missed at Cross Trails and all of us that knew her.
She was a lady that many wanted to be like. Prayers go out to every family member and all her precious friends. May God’s light shine down with love and mercy on each of you.
The love you feel in each breeze and every raindrop will be that of Ms. Leona smiling down at you…
