Mary Frances Murphy, age 86, passed away at her home in Wolfe City on June 20, 2017. She was born on March 21, 1931 in Wolfe City to William and Beatrice Payne Murphy. She was a long-time member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. She worked as a housekeeper for some of our Wolfe City neighbors for many years. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt to her family members.
She is survived by 4 sisters: Vera Ramirez, Willie Armstrong, Wanda Murphy, Cathy Murphy, 4 daughters: Shirley Alexander, Vanessa Johnson, Rosemary McFail, Christy Reed, 3 sons: Stanley Murphy, Tyrone Williams, and Kelvin Murphy, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons: Bruce Murphy, Willie Woodberry, 2 grandchildren, 2 brothers, 5 sisters.
The funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Melva Hill at 2:00 P.M, Saturday, June 24, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Wolfe City with visitation to be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be after the service at Mt. Carmel West Cemetery in Wolfe City. R. W. Owens and Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
I absolutely loved this woman. she was my high school sweet heart grandma.
