July 5, 1917 –  July 30, 2015 Mattie Lou Smithey 98, died in the nursing home in Sulphur Springs, Texas on July 30, 2015. Funeral services will be at Owens Funeral Home in Wolfe City at 2:00 pm, Sunday, August 2, 2015, with A.C Quinn and Pat Painter officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Mattie was born July 5, 1917, in Arkansas to Reed and Clara Malone. She lived most of her life in Wolfe City and retired from Hennington Publishing Company. She was a long time member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Royce Smithey, and siblings, William Malone, Glen Malone, Laura Kelley, Faye Woodruff, and Ray Malone.

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Flanagan and husband Roy, of
Sulphur Springs, her granddaughter Tausha Morgan and husband Justin, of Sulphur Springs, great grandchildren Joshua, Kimber, and Caylea, sister Fern Bench and husband Roy, of Henderson and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 1:30 prior to the service.
