Richard Ricketts, longtime Wolfe City resident, passed away Wednesday, May 2 at Medical City Hospital in McKinney at the age of 86.

Richard was born on Sept. 13, 1931 in Greenville to Alvie Ricketts and Esther Marie Lambe Ricketts. He married Ronda Powers on July 31, 1982 in Plano.

Richard graduated from Wolfe City High School in 1949 and upon graduating, served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He had a distinguished career in the USDA Office of Inspector General and retired as an inspector.

He is survived by his wife, Ronda Ricketts of Wolfe City, stepson Derek Sheets and Janell of Wolfe City; stepson Chris Sheets and wife Stephanie of Wolfe City; six grandchildren Meredith, Marissa and Macie Sheets, and Mackenzie, Tana and Madison Bell; sister Frances Davis of Wolfe City, and brother Jimmy Ricketts and wife Mary Louise of Sherman; nephew Dickie Jones, Timmy Davis and wife Molly, Steve Davis and wife Beckie; niece Linda Chamberland and husband Bob, and many great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Betty Jones and brother-in-law Mace, brother-in-law Howard Davis, and nephew Michael Davis.

Funeral Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 6 at The First Baptist Church in Wolfe City, conducted by Brother Tim Hearn. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Wolfe City. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the church.

Pallbearers are Jake Davis, Rickey Hester, Brandon Woodruff, Jeff Pierce, Heath Davis, Kevin Horton, Steven Diamond and Rodney Swinson. Honorary Pallbearers are Bobby Owens, Bill Reneau, Bobby Dale Williams, Bobby Brown, Bobby Dan Thomas,  and Sonny Armstrong.
