Robert Earl Woodruff, known affectionately to many as Bobby or Bobcat, passed away on April 5, 2021 at the age of 63. Bobby was a Navy veteran with many friends in the Leonard and Lake Texoma areas.
While Bobby was not necessarily a religious man, he was surely a righteous man. Bobby believed in treating everyone with respect, and he had no enemies…at least none to our knowledge. There are many paths one can take in life, and Bobby chose his. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He also loved and enjoyed raising his Pomeranian dogs. Bobby always had the feeling that he would not be on this earth long, and he had made steady arrangements for his afterlife. We are not to mourn this path that Bobby chose but rather celebrate his life, as that is what Bobby would desire. We are thankful for the time we had with Bobby, and we find solace knowing that he is a child of God; we will see him again.
Bobby was born in San Antonio at Fort Sam Houston on February 7, 1958. Bobby attended high school in Leonard, Texas. He studied at Grayson County College in Denison, Texas. Bobby joined the Navy in 1975 in Greenville, Texas and served honorably. After leaving the military, Bobby served about 35 years in the communication industry. He was quite successful in his career, and Bobby was instrumental in bringing Verizon Wireless to its position as the leading wireless company in the world. He retired at the end of February 2020.
Bobby had many loves in his life. He fathered three children: Danny, Michelle, and Ashley. Bobby also had the great honor of being grandfather to Ellis, Avril, Oliana, and Keonna. Bobby is survived by son Danny Len Woodruff and his wife Ashley; granddaughters Ellis, Avril, Oliana, and Keonna; companion Denese Toney; both parents Troyce Len and Willie Mae Woodruff; brother Ira “Buddy” Woodruff and his wife Tammy; sister Berlinda Solis and her husband A.J.; niece Jessica Lemley and her husband Travis; niece Trudy Martin and her husband Danny; and nephews Ethan and Andrew. Bobby was preceded in death by his brother Troyce “Kinky” Len Woodruff II, both daughters Michelle Rene Woodruff, and Ashley Michelle Woodruff.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 13, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home in Leonard. Arrangements are handled by R. W. Owens and Son Funeral Home of Wolfe City.
