Samuel Thomas “Sonny” Hicks age 85 of Celeste, Texas passed away on Friday, October 30, 2015 in Greenville, Texas. He was born on September 20. 1920 in rural Hopkins County outside of Sulphur Springs, Texas to Jessee Lee and Nellie A. Bradford Hicks. He married Margaret Elzene Wilson on October 21, 1989 in Celeste and she precedes him in death.

Mr. Hicks was a member of White Rock Country Baptist Church in Celeste and a retired Heavy Equipment Operator specializing in major construction projects. He loved the Lord and everyone! 1st was his faith, 2nd his wife, 3rd his children and family. Sonny would do anything for anyone. In his leisure time he enjoyed the outdoors, riding his mower and working his garden.

He is survived by 10 children; Sammy Hicks and wife Cindy, Shirley Bailey and husband Phil, Edith Pearson and husband Monte, Debbie Berryman and fiancé Charles Williams, Charlotte Bainbridge, Linda Chesne and husband Alton, Dianna Pickering and husband Paul, Darrell Dillon and wife Toni, Sandra Sheets and husband Weldon, and LaDeana Anderson and husband Henry, 24 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. 5 siblings Ray, Joe, Lee, Aubry, Betty Jean, Lenora, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his wife, both parents, 4 siblings Movalene, Billy Dean, Jessie Nell, and Juanita, and 5 grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home in Wolfe City, Texas from 6:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M.

Funeral services will be Monday, November 2, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Don Giddens officiating. Interment will follow at Hogeye-Celeste Cemetery in Celeste with Sons and Sons-In-Law serving as pallbearers.
