Sherie Elaine Burt Kao age 53 of Richardson, Texas died on Sunday, January 31, 2016 in Greenville at Hunt Regional Medical Center. She was born on February 10, 1962 in Greenville to Harold Wayne and Carolyn Brown Burt. She married Peter Kao on August 22, 1983 in Dallas.

Mrs. Kao graduated from Commerce High School and East Texas State University, earning a bachelor degree in photography. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Commerce. In her leisure time Sherie enjoyed quilting and collecting different styles of art. She enjoyed expressing her artistic side thru photography and her many writings’. Helping people in any possible way was a passion of Sherie’s, as well as a love of dogs. She loved her son and nephews dearly, enjoying all the special times they had together.

Sherie is survived by her husband of 32 years Peter Kao, son Alec Ja-Wayne Kao, mother Carolyn Burt, brother Wayne Burt and wife Shawn, nephews Nathan and Jesse Burt, aunt Lou Brown, special cousins Kim Brown, Karon Jo Cox Bohl, and many other extended family members.

She is preceded in death by her father Harold Wayne Burt, both sets of grandparents; Jesse and Margie Burt and Weldon and Silva Brown, special cousin Jason Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Commerce with Bro. Michael Ryer officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the start of service.

Interment will follow the service at Sonora Cemetery with Nathan Burt, Jesse Burt, Jason Cunningham, Mark Reed, Kyle Lowe and Jimmy Rhodes serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are close family friends who were involved in the rearing of Sherie; Bobby Williams, James Rhodes, and James Weeks.
