July 31, 1925 –  December 8, 2014 Cross,
Silas Cross Jr. age 89 of Greenville, Texas formally of Sherman, Texas died on December 8, 2014 at Greenville Health and Rehab following a short illness. He was born in Trenton, Tennessee on July 31, 1925 to Silas and Della Frona Gibson Cross. He married Betty Jean Smith his wife of 67 years on January 18, 1945 in Greenville, Texas.

He was of the Baptist faith, and former Deacon at the Peniel Baptist Church. Mr. Cross honorably served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II as a MP. He worked for many years in the utilities departments for the City of Greenville. Mr. Cross was known for not ever meeting a stranger and his generous heart. Two things that he loved dearly was giving out Tootsie Roll Pop to everyone and talking about the Bible, his favorite verse was John 3:16.

Survivors include daughter Christa Logsdon and granddaughter Julie Morrissey, all of Greenville; granddaughter Tammy Almuina of Sherman; great-grandchildren Drue, Devin, Chelsea and Aubrie Simmons of Sherman and Erin and Zachary Morrissey of’ Greenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home in Wolfe City, Texas from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, December 12, 2014 at 3:15 P.M. at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Grand Prairie, Texas with hospice Chaplin Nick Williams officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army.
