Velma June Barker Churchwell age 78 of Ladonia, Texas passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, November 23, 2016. She was born on June 15, 1938 in Longview Texas to Bert and Velma Jessie Doyle Barker. She married Newton Churchwell on April 20, 1957.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ladonia and she retired from Henington Publishing Company after twenty years of loyal service. She then worked and retired as a Vocational Nurse.

She is survived by daughter Janice Churchwell, son Jimmy Churchwell and four grandchildren Wayne Grandbury, Tiffany Johnson, Randy Churchwell and Jesse Churchwell

Her husband, Newton Churchwell, and her parents, Bert and Velma Barker of Ladonia, preceded her in death.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 3, 2016 at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home in Wolfe City. Family and friends are asked to gather at the funeral home and will go in procession to graveside service.
