Vergie Lou Greenwood

August 5, 1921 -  October 25, 2010 GREENWOOD, Vergie L. Greenwood age 90 of Gunter, formerly of Leonard, were held Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City. Rev. Jerry Mahle and Rev. Mead McGee conducted the service. Mrs. Greenwood passed away Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at Hilltop Haven Nursing Home in Gunter. Mrs. Greenwood was born Aug. 5, 1920, in Tupelo, Miss., the daughter of John and Annie Bell Young Raper. She and her family came to Texas by train in 1925. She married Johnnie Clarence Greenwood on Aug. 21, 1940, at Durant, Okla. She was a seamstress over 30 years working in the Whitewright Manufacturing Co. She was a member of Tioga United Methodist Church in Tioga. Surviving are two daughters, Glenda Fennell and husband, Ken, of Oak Point, and Judy Davis of McKinney; grandchildren, Chris Ensminger of Tioga, Fred Davis of Leonard, Krista Hines of Pottsboro,and Katie and Kelsie Greenwood of Sherman;great-grandchildren, Greg Davis of Houston, Jennifer Whisenhunt of Bland, Hanna,Hillary and Josie Ensminger of Bridgeport and Hunter and Riley Hines of Pottsboro;great-great grandchild, Eli of Bland; five nephews and six nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ted Lee, Ottis, B.W. and Herbert; three sisters, Joyes Inez, Lois and Mozelle; her husband, Johnnie; infant daughter, Kathy Janine; son, Dale; grandson, Greg Davis and great-granddaughter, Lexie Hines. The family received friends at 1 p.m. Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral
