Allen Dale Maples, 93, of Wolfe City died July 27, 2015 at Legend Healthcare and Rehabilitation. Greenville. The son of John Thomas and Ellie Williams Maples, he was born 9 August 1921 in Paradise Community in Hunt County, Texas. He married Dorothy Juanita Brown in the Methodist Parsonage in Commerce on 28 September 1940. They had been married 69 years.

During World War II, Dale entered the military service on 30 August 1944 and received training at Camp Wolters and Fort Meade, Maryland. He went overseas in February, 1945 and saw action in Belgium, France, and Germany. He was awarded the Bronze Star Metal, EAME Campaign Metal and Bronze Star attachment, Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award, Good Conduct Metal, Honorable Service Lapel Button and World War II Victory Metal.

After the war he returned to the Wolfe City Area and farmed until he and Juanita moved to Dallas in 1951. They purchased a home and lived there for 55 years. He was employed at Texas Cartage Warehouse for 35 years. After Dale and Juanita’s retirement they sold their home in 2006 and purchased a home in Wolfe City to be near family. His wife Juanita died on 3 June, 2009 in Wolfe City.

Dale is preceded in death by his wife, Juanita and his parents, John T. and Ellie Williams Maples, Brothers: Nolan Maples, W.D Maples and Archie M. Maples; sisters: Nancy Maples Currin, Ima Jean Maples Clayton and Beatrice Maples Blassingame.

He is survived by brothers Ray Maples of Mabank and Doyle Maples of Dallas and Brother-in-law Bobby Brown of Wolfe City and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home in Wolfe City from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 29, 2015.

Funeral Services will be on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Brother Tim Hearn officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City with Dale’s nephews serving as pallbearers.
