Aubrey “Sonny” Davidson, age 94, passed away at the Dallas VA Medical Center December 4, 2025.  He was born to Jesse W L and Ester Hayden Davidson May 1, 1931, in Point.

The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, December 8, 2025, at Cross Trails Cowboy Church in Fairlie.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Cross Trails.  Pallbearers will be Lane Hill, Landon Davidson, Jason Davidson, Wyatt Davidson, Wylie Davidson, Gerold Pierce, Stelvin Dial and Devin Dial.  Dallas Davidson will be an honorary pallbearer.

Aubrey was raised by his parents as a cotton farmer when cotton was king in Hunt County. He attended Mt Carmel School until eighth grade when the school shut down and he was transferred to the Wolfe City school. Unfortunately, the bus could not run when the roads were muddy and Wolfe City did not make allowances for farmers’ children to miss school to help pick cotton, so Aubrey dropped out after the rainy season ended and the bus started running the route again.

Aubrey was drafted and served stateside during the Korean war. When he was discharged from the Army, Aubrey got a job as a machinist at Continental Emsco in Garland where he expected to work for a couple of years and save some money before returning to growing cotton. The two years passed, and he decided he could make a better living as a machinist than as a farmer, so he kept working at Continental Emsco. He then married Virginia Mae Rudolph March 17, 1956, in Cleburne, Texas. After he married, he changed employers to Walker McDonald in Greenville, Sherwood Mfg. and E-Systems. He later retired from Sherwood Mfg. When he was not at work, he enjoyed playing guitar, working on cars, tractors, and raising cattle.

Aubrey and Virginia raised four sons. He is survived by his sons: Billy Davidson and wife Via, Donal Davidson and wife Alice, and Kenneth Davidson and wife Marsha. He is also survived by grandchildren: Tiffane Pierce and husband Gerold, Landon Davidson and wife Amie, Audrey Bunton and husband Brad, Chris Davidson and wife Robin, Bethany Davidson, Jason Davidson and wife Leigh, Shannon Davidson, Deanne Dial and husband Stelvin. Leanne Willis, Josh Brown, and Luke Brown and wife Bessie. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Aubrey was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Thomas Earl Davidson and Thomas Earl’s wife Kimberly.
