Betty Joyce Akins, age 81 of Bonham, Texas died at her home on Friday, May 30, 2014. She was born on May 17, 1933 in Wolfe City, Texas to Henry Thomas and Stellie McQuire Hemphill. She married Jerry Stafford Akins on December 2, 1950 in Leonard, Texas.

Mrs. Akins was a member of First Baptist Church of Wolfe City. She worked for Piggly Wiggly for many years as a store Clerk.

She is survived by nieces Verna Stroud of Wolfe City, Frances Davis of Athens, nephew Richard Lee Belcher of Dallas, and friend Gloria Burnett of Ft. Worth.

A graveside service will be held on at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Arledge Ridge Cemetery in Bonham, Texas with Butch Henderson officiating.
