Evelyn Tompkins age 81, of Mesquite, Texas died on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at her home. She was born on April 30, 1933 in Uvalde, Texas to Noah and Laura Mansfield Allen. She married Robert Lyle Tompkins in Cleburne, Texas on August 7, 1953.

She was a member Christian Care Center Church of Christ in Mesquite and was a homemaker. Evelyn was sponsored by Austin Street Church of Christ to serve as a missionary for nine years in Vicenza, Italy, and ten years in Middletown, PA. She lived in Wolfe City, Kress, and Garland throughout her life.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Robert Lyle Tompkins, two children Evelyn Ann Tompkins, and Robert Boston Tompkins, her parents and two sisters and two brothers.

Evelyn is survived by daughter Roberta Lynn Ruiz and husband Denis, grandson Gabriel Ruiz and many other relatives and a host of friends.

A funeral service will be held in honor of Mrs. Tompkins at the Christian Care Center Church of Christ in Mesquite at 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 4, 2014 with Ray Hunter Officiating. Interment will follow at the Itasca City Cemetery in Itasca, Texas

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the start of service at the Christian Care Center Church of Christ.
