Hazel Dell (Bench) Ivey passed away on October 16, 2024, in Arlington, Texas at the age of 95. She was born on November 19, 1928, to parents Henry Clay & Linnie Delma (Parrish) Bench in Celeste, Texas.
On September 25, 1948, in Ladonia, Texas, she married Edwin Earl Ivey Sr. They were blessed with five children and shared 72 years of marriage until Ed’s passing in November 2020. Hazel spent many years working as a seamstress in the Dallas area and later as a laundry attendant. She cherished time with her family and friends, enjoyed playing the lottery and Wahoo, and occasionally took trips to the casino.
Hazel is survived by her 4 children, Edwin Earl Ivey Jr and his wife Norma, Calvin Clay Ivey and his wife Gloria, Cecile Tidwell and her husband Roger, and Billy Ivey and his wife Linda. Grandchildren include Edwin Earl Ivey III, Shaun Christopher Ivey and his wife Belinda, Kendra Ivey, Samuel Cory Ivey and his wife Maribel, Steven Allen Ivey, Emily Elaine King and her husband Jason, Robert Clay Ivey and his wife Jerrica, Adrianne Michelle Tidwell, Denise Renee Current and her husband Jeremiah, Jeffrey Wayne Ivey and his wife Stefani Lynn, and Ashley Orr. Hazel is also survived by her 24 great grandchildren and 3 great- great grandchildren, as well as her sister Nellie Moorehead and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Edwin Earl Ivey Sr., parents Henry Clay & Linnie Delma Bench, her daughter Glenda Dell Ivey, and her siblings, sister Audra Mae Davis, brothers Joe Ray Bench and Kenneth Wayne Bench.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at R.W. Owens Funeral Home in Wolfe City, Texas. The Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. at RW Owens Funeral Home. The burial will follow the service at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Pastor Jim Corbet will be officiating the service.
