James Earnest Scarbrough age 86 of Wolfe City, Texas passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at the Medical Center of Plano. He was born on December 16, 1930 in Monette, Arkansas to Dewey Melton and Gertie Holland Scarbrough. He married Betty Joyce Lacy in Wolfe City on July 3, 1959.
Mr. Scarbrough attended Calvary Baptist Church in Wolfe City, and retired from E Systems. He was often seen on his daily walks around Wolfe City. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
He is survived by three children Becky Fortner and husband Richard, Jimmy Lynn Scarbrough and wife Diann, and JoAnn Davidson and husband Jamie.; four grandchildren Samantha Jo Holloway and husband Casey, James Allen Fortner and Becky Ramirez, Justin Scarbrough and wife Kate, Misty Colvey and husband Josh, four great-grandchildren, sister Ruby Primm and brother Aubrey Scarbrough.
He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Joyce Scarbrough, parents, two brother Herald Scarbrough and Leon Scarbrough.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 at R.W. Owens & Son Funeral Home in Wolfe City from 6:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the funeral home with Bro. Larry Morris officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Wolfe City with; Tommy Jones, Carl Lamm, David Dawson, Gene Dawson, Gary Steinbring, and Dan McDonald serving as pallbearers.
