Jimmy John Scoggins, 89, passed from this life on May 6th, 2024, at Medical City Hospital in McKinney, TX.

He was born July 28th, 1934, to Harvey Clifford Scoggins, Sr and Willie Edna Craig Scoggins in Honey Grove, Texas The house he was born in was located in the middle of a cotton field near the Bralley Pool Community.

He attended school at Bartley Woods and Ladonia.

On May 29, 1956, he married Dortheda Wilkes, and they were married 63 years at the time of her passing.   Soon after marriage, he was drafted into the Army.  He served 18 months in Korea as a cook and loved telling stories of his time there.

After his return from the Army, Jimmy became an aircraft mechanic.  He worked for Southwest Air Motors, and E systems where he once worked on the president’s plane.  He then became an automobile mechanic and worked for Ray Rydings Motors and Cole Chrysler in Commerce.  He retired his career at Doyle’s Garage in Wolfe City.  He also was a farmer and had a dairy farm for several years.

Jimmy made his home in Wolfe City for 35 years before relocating to Greenville.  He was a member of the Creekside Church of Christ.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers:  Harvey Scoggins, Jr, Benny Scoggins, and a sister-in-law, Mary Scoggins.

He is survived by his brother, Jerry Scoggins (Carol), sister in law, Wanda Scoggins, his children:  Jonathan Scoggins (Ayen), and Daphne Scoggins Weatherford (Steve), and 4 grandchildren:  Andrew Burnes (Reagan), Brandon Scoggins, Ashley Weatherford and Emily Weatherford.

The visitation will be at Owens Funeral Home in Wolfe City from 12:00pm- 2:00pm. A Graveside service with full military honors will be Monday, May 13, 2024, at 2:15PM at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Wolfe City, Texas. Officiating the service will be Charles Wrenn.
