Truman “Delbert” Lair
August 16, 1939 – November 13, 2025
Truman Delbert Lair, age 86, of Wolfe City, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at BriarCliff Nursing Home in Greenville with his daughter Sherry and his daughter-in-law by his side.
Delbert was born August 16, 1939, in Telephone, to his parents Truman Herbert and Mary Ada Hollowell Lair. Delbert had one brother, Joe Frank Lair Sr. and one sister, Etta Christine Lair Creed.
There will be a graveside service conducted by Bro. David London at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In the event of inclement weather, please call Owens Funeral Home at 903-496-2331 because we may move the service indoors. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Owens Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
He married Peggy Price on February 8, 1961, and they raised four children: Delbert Ray Lair, Sherry Lair Johnson, Betty Jon Lair, and Truman David Lair.
He was just a good ole country boy who loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, growing big, beautiful vegetable gardens, which he always shared with family and friends, but most of all he loved collecting knives. Everyone that knew Delbert knew he was one of the kindest people you would ever meet.
Delbert is survived by his sons: Delbert Ray (Bootie) Lair and wife Tammie, Truman David Lair – both of Wolfe City, daughters: Sherry Lair Johnson of Leonard and Betty Jon Lair of Wolfe City, and two granddaughters: April Lair and Julie Lair of Wolfe City.
Delbert is preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother and sister.
