Jack Thomas “Tommy” Dillon was called home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the age of 75 in Dallas, Texas. We know the Lord was ready for him, but we sure weren’t ready to lose him. He loved his family fiercely. He was always there when we needed him, a solid presence that we could count on and run to when we needed advice or a hug or a tool out of his workshop. There is simply not enough room on this page to express our love for our dad, our “Pop,” our “Pawpaw,” our “Big Jack.”
Tommy was born on March 15, 1949, in Fort Worth, Texas, to parents Ondus Leon & Gladys (Ivey) Dillon. Tommy married his childhood sweetheart, Shirley Liston, on January 27, 1966, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was 16 years old, and she was 15. No one believed they would stay together, but they did… for a lifetime. Together they raised three children and helped raise their grandchildren. He found joy in the great outdoors, horseback riding, fishing, hunting, or exploring off-road in his side-by-side. Above all, he cherished time with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who filled his life with love and laughter. He was a crackerjack domino player, and he loved old westerns and classic country music. Because of his love for Jesus, we have hope in knowing we will see him again someday.
Tommy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Dillon; his children, Angela Dillon, Richard Dillon, and Robert Scott Dillon; his grandchildren, Shelby Denise Dillon, Jessi & Haylee Montana, Cortney Dillon, and Dakota Thomas Dillon; his great-grandchildren, Saxon & Simba Brown. Other survivors include numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, Ondus & Gladys Dillon; his grandsons, Robert “Cole” Dillon and Trevor Don Dillon; his siblings, Sybel Florence Dillon, Herschel Leon Dillon, Bennie Faye Dillon, G.L. Dillon, Gordon Ray Dillon, Shirlene (Dillon) Morgan, and Jimmy Lynn Dillon, Sr.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, November 1, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Wolfe City, Texas. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M., with interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
I loved my uncle Tommy and will cherish every memory I have of him. I have told countless people numerous stories about his humor, kindness, and how he reminded me of Conway Twitty and Elvis! Aunt Shirley and family, I love y’all so much and y’all are always in my prayers.
Tommy will be truly missed praying for the family!🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
