Barbara J Chetelat, age 91, passed away Sunday, June 14, 202,6 at Cedar Hollow Rehabilitation Center in Sherman. She was born February 13, 1935, to Claude R and Letha Emily Gale Cheatum in Pueblo, Colorado.
Barbara grew up in Pueblo and graduated from Pueblo High School. She loved Colorado and the Rocky mountains, spending as much time as she could exploring and hunting rocks. She married John S Chetelat and had three children and two more with her second husband Glen D Holman. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, crafts, and sewing. She was an active member of the women’s group at her church. Later in life, she became interested in genealogy. She researched all of the branches of her family and made genealogy notebooks with all of her research in it. She really loved her family and her pets. She had two dogs: Cuddles and Bella and an African Grey Parrot named Footer Bird.
Barbara is survived by four children: John A Chetelat and his wife Pauline, Jody Creed and her husband Jimmy, Glenda Spearman, and Micki Stone and her husband Jason. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands John S Chetelat and Glen Holman, daughter Kathy Chetelat, and her parents.
A celebration of her life is set for July 18th from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at Home Run Ranch, 1724 W. Vernon St, Bells, TX 75414. The family would like to thank the staff at Cedar Hollow Rehabilitation Center for the care that they showed to Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, and Great-Great-Grandma Barbara.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to DAWG, Denison Animal Welfare Group, P.O. Box 1330 Denison, TX 75021

Mom you were the rock Of The Family, you would have to be because you are a grandmother, a great grandmother, and a great great grandmother. You’re very loving and funny as hell. I remember when John and I moved you from Canyon City Co. down into Tx we had many laughs driving and your dog Sam Sam ended up, loving me because she had nowhere to hide but my lap. I love you, mom and I will miss you.
